Zona Viola Wallace

Zona Viola Wallace, 73, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away February 17, 2019. She was born January 9, 1946 in Jennings County, Indiana to Max and Marian Miller.

Moving to Indianapolis in her younger years, Zona graduated from Ben Davis High School. She met the love of her life, Roger Wallace, when she was only 13 at Haag’s Drugstore where he worked as a soda jerk. They married just a few short years later in 1962 when Zona was 16. They spent 44 beautiful years of marriage together raising their four children. They remained deeply in love at the time of his passing in 2006. Zona was a jack of all trades, she enjoyed quilting, crocheting, cooking, and baking. She was a lifelong learner; obtaining certifications as a nurse and dental hygienist as well as working many jobs along the way. She was genuinely good at everything she put her mind to, a trait most people envy. She was an amazing mother and would do anything to help her children, even helping them get out of trouble a few times. Zona also adored her grandchildren. She was truly a second mother to them and no one could make her prouder than they could. She was a go with the flow kind of woman who loved animals, especially her dog, Ruby. Zona’s passing leaves an empty place in the hearts of those who were blessed enough to meet her. Peace can be found in knowing she was a faithful member of The Church By the Side of the Road in Avon, Indiana; she knew the Lord and we will all see her again one day.

Zona is preceded in death by her parents, Max and Marian; husband of 44 years, Roger. Surviving to cherish her memory are children, Rex (Deborah), Daneen (Preston), Jeffery (Wanda), Rebecca (Nick); brothers, Max Miller, Paul Miller, and Danny Miller; eight loving grandchildren and three adored great-grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to visit Friday, February 22 from 11-1 PM at Flanner Buchanan – Decatur Township, 5463 Kentucky Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46221. Funeral services will take place at 1 PM. Zona will be laid to rest at West Newton Cemetery immediately following services.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Zona’s memory to The Humane Society of Indianapolis or The Church By the Side of the Road, Avon, Indiana. Donation envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
