Yolanda Arlene Barton

Yolanda Arlene Barton, 76 years old, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away peacefully in the loving presence of family on Wednesday, September 02, 2020. Yolanda was born on April 18, 1944 in Indianapolis, IN to parents Garvin Guy Sexton & Elsie Rusher-Sexton. Yolanda met her lifelong love Danny Barton in the neighborhood where she grew up. They were married in 1960 and were blessed with four children. Yolanda worked for many years in the offices of the former Permanent Magnet Company in Lawrence, IN until retiring with Danny in 2009.

Yolanda was a loving and devoted wife and mother to Danny, and her four children. She also welcomed and loved those who joined the family like they were her own. As a grandmother she was a hard act to follow, she just knew how to convey fun, love, and lessons in ways that made her grandchildren feel very special, because they are. Yolanda possessed and shared a friendly and kind generosity of spirit with family, friends, and those she just met. She had a wonderful sense of humor and wit that will long be remembered by those she touched. Yolanda will be missed immensely by many, but who are comforted by knowing she is again with Danny, and that their loving union can continue in the heavens, unbound by earthly constraints.

Yolanda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Danny, her beloved sister Regina K. Patterson, her brothers Buddy, Earl, and Phillip Sexton. Yolanda is survived by her children: Daniel Joseph Barton, Jr. (Sally), Donald Barton (Julie), Thomas Barton, and Robin McGill (Mike); grandchildren: Daniel Barton, III, Matthew Barton, Megan Barton (Kyle), Donald Barton, Jr. (Jenelle), and Jonathan Barton; several nieces and nephews; and many friends and acquaintances’ who were made to feel like family.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2020 at Flanner and Buchanan- Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St, Indianapolis, where funeral services will immediately follow at 1 p.m. Entombment will be in Washington Park East Cemetery.
