Winona Rose Freund 84 of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on November 16, 2022. She was born on January 11, 1938, in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Arthur Leo and Virginia Berry (Bell) Gist. Rose, as she was affectionately known worked as a Computer Specialist for Chase Bank for many years and then worked for the United States Mint prior to retiring. She was a proud graduate of Ben Davis High School in 1956 and was a member of the Purple Aires. Rose had many interests, but she enjoyed working as a “Yellow Shirt” at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, but she especially enjoyed spending time with her family and enjoying her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a former member of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was dearly loved by many and will be missed. Rose is survived by her children, Tracey Parrett, Thomas R. Freund, Jr., Kevin D. Freund, 8 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas R. Freund, Sr., and several siblings. Services will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, 2:00pm at Flanner Buchanan Decatur township with visitation there from 12:00pm-2:00pm. She will be laid to rest at West Newton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
