Wilma Lois -Memo- Bracken

Age 96, of Indianapolis, passed away on August 24, 2017. She was born May 4, 1921 in Lafayette, Tennessee to Elbridge and Gertie (Blankenship) Mabrey. She was raised in Scottsville, Kentucky before moving to Indianapolis in 1955 where she was a meat wrapper with Safeway. She was a charter member of Gethsemane Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and spending time with her family. She was known as "memo" to all around her.

"Memo" is preceded in death by her parents, spouses, Dewey Young and Henry “Hank” Bracken, son, Norman Young, son-in-law, Kenneth Perdue and all eight of her brothers and sisters. Surviving to cherish her memory are her children Rita Perdue, Glen (Jackie) Young, daughter-in-law, Barbara Young, 9 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 22 great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may visit from 2-8 PM Monday, August 28 at Flanner and Buchanan – Decatur Township, 5463 Kentucky Avenue, Indianapolis. Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM Tuesday, August 29, at the funeral home. Contributions may be made in her memory to Indiana Women In Need, PO Box 30648, Indianapolis, Indiana 46220, to assist women undergoing breast cancer treatment and recovery.
