Willie Inge Davis, Jr. of Indianapolis, Indiana departed this life June 23, 2020 Willie, affectionately known as Dave, was born June 1, 1936 in Hale County, Greensboro, Alabama to the late Willie Inge and Ethel Mae Davis. At the age of two, the family moved to Tuscaloosa, Alabama. At the age of twelve, he joined Friendship Baptist Church.
Dave was educated in The Tuscaloosa Public School System and was graduated from Industrial High School. He attended Stillman College where he met his beautiful wife, Juanita Calhoun. He married the Love of his Life and they had one beautiful daughter, Lori Rena Saunders.
Dave enlisted in the United States Amy in 1958 and made it a Career. His tours of duty took him to Germany, Fort Riley, Kansas, Fort Sill, Oklahoma; Huachuca, Arizona and Syracuse, New York. He attended The Defense Investigative Service (DIS) School while in Arizona and became a Military Investigator. Dave also served one tour in Vietnam and one tour in Korea. While on Active Duty he received the following Service Medals: National Defense Service Medal, Army
Occupational Medal-Germany, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Expert Badge (Rifle) Medal. In 1970 Dave was
also named An Outstanding Man of America in Who’s Who. While stationed at Fort Benjamin Harrison; Indianapolis, Indiana, MSG Willie Inge Davis, Jr. retired in 1979 as an Investigator for the Department of Defense. After his Military career, Dave worked as an Investigator for The Welfare Department of Marion County (Indiana) for twenty years.
Dave loved shopping and was known for his impeccable dress. His outfits always reflected the current Trends.
Dave’s hobbies were reading, playing card games, fishing, traveling and hanging out with his “boys”. He was a member of The Old Retired Men Social Club. They met once monthly eating and talking about the good ole days!
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Inge Davis, Sr. and Ethel Mae Davis Jackson, brother Floyd Jackson, sister Autha Mae Caddett and brother-in-law Robbie Crawford.
Willie Inge Davis, Jr. leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife Juanita C. Davis, daughter Lori Rena Saunders, sister Evelyn Crawford, sister-in-law Joyce Jackson, Army friend George Harp, “Little Brother” Wallace Davis, all of his Nieces and Nephews whom he loved dearly and other close Relatives and Friends.
