William Wayne Benge

William Wayne Benge, 83, of Martinsville passed away May 24, 2022, in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 6, 1938, in Hendricks County to Walter & Lela Myrtle (Hubbard) Benge.

As a member of the Teamsters Local 135, Wayne (or Dee Dee as he was affectionately known to close friends and family) was an over the road truck driver, and he also owned and operated a sharpening and electrical business. He was the epitome of being a jack of all trades, meticulous in his attention to the finer details and always took pride in helping others as best he could as “Mr. Fix It” to those around him. Most importantly, he was known as a very loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandpa, uncle and friend to many.

He sadly leaves behind his wife of 65 years Charlene Claire (Billhimer) Benge; his son Kevin Wayne Benge; his daughters Kimmy (Rick) Clayton, Kerri Dial, Kellie (Mike) Hall, and Krista (Brian) Harrington; his 18 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sisters Faye Vincent and Ilene Overbey.
