William (Bill) K. Silvis, of Zionsville, Indiana passed away on December 2, 2018 at the age of 93. He was born in Indiana, Pennsylvania on February 7, 1925 to Thomas Marvin and Martha Pearle (Dillinger) Silvis.
He was a devoted Catholic man with a big heart full of love. He joined the Navy and served his country during WWII 1944-1946. He was an electrician on the USS PC 1121 submarine chaser, he received the Pacific Theater Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon, and Philippine Liberation Medal.
Bill married the love of his life Joan M. Lahrman in 1947. They were married 68 years until Joan’s death. They brought into this world four daughters and a son. He provided for his family by working at Naval Avionics as an electrician 1952-1980. After retiring he enjoyed spending time with family taking vacations and camping trips. He would also lend a hand in the farming and harvesting for local farmers. He was a member of the Zionsville American Legion post 79 and 40/8 color guard.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory: Daughters, Ruth Kidwell, Cathy Ottinger (Jerry), son William Silvis (Tracy) son in laws, Eric Huntsman, Dale Funkhouser. His 10 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren. Sister, Dorothy Hollis. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends from all over and especially the loving and caring aids and nurses over the years in caring for a very special man.
He is proceeded in death by: daughter’s Mary Huntsman, Nancy Funkhouser, son in law Stan Kidwell.
Visitation will be held from 10 to noon at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 319 E. South Street, Lebanon, Indiana on Friday, December 7 with funeral at noon.
