William “Bill” George Schaefer, 86, passed away on March 5, 2025, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born on May 12, 1938, in Indianapolis, to the late Edward George and Virginia Schaefer.
Bill attended the University of Chicago, where he earned his MBA. His knowledge in finance propelled his own career and inspired countless students during his time as a university lecturer.
Bill was an avid gardener, bringing beauty and tranquility to his surroundings through his love of plants. He found joy in collecting rocks and coins, cherishing the stories behind each piece. As a devoted pet lover, he formed special bonds with his animals, which filled his days with companionship and affection.
Bill cherished the ocean and delighted in the serenity of Hilton Head Island and Amelia Island, often spending time sailing and soaking up the sun by the water's edge. His adventurous spirit extended to travel, allowing him to explore various cultures and landscapes throughout his life.
A competitive league player for over ten years, Bill had a profound love for tennis. His artistic side came alive through painting, where he expressed his creativity and appreciation of fine arts. Among his many pastimes, playing bridge offered him the chance to connect with friends and family, enjoying both the game and the company.
Bill is survived by his wife, Linda Morgan; children, Robert (Laura) Schaefer and Jennifer (Owen) Feeley; grandchildren, Kaylyn Feeley, Brendan Feeley, Adam Schaefer and Ryan Schaefer; and great-grandchildren, Methodius Schaefer, and Xenia Schaefer.
Bill was preceded in passing by his wife, Ann Schaefer.
