William Robert “Bob” Martin,

Born February 6, 1931, near Bowling Green, Kentucky and passed away at the age of 94 years old in Indianapolis, Indiana. Bob went home to be with his Lord and Savior on February 23, 2025, at his home with his wife, Patricia “Patty” Martin, of 65 years. He succumbed to age related health issues.

He served in the US Army from 1948-1950. Bob was a very proud and true professional truck driver with more than 70 years experience and over 6 million miles under his belt. He truly loved his work and would have liked to have done it even longer. Bob always enjoyed when he could pass on some of his years of knowledge to an appreciative driver. He trained many drivers through the years to start their careers in trucking. He retired from Daum Trucking at age 85 where he and his wife, Pat, had been running California, Oregon, and Washington State for more than 20 years. They really enjoyed those many special years of driving together. After that, Bob made an occasional Midwest run and at age 91, he took a job driving a triaxle dump truck. After taking that beating, he decided to hang that up. He would always talk trucking and reminisce about trips he had taken. He would get the map out, look it over, and run a past trip in his mind. He never lost his love for trucking. He owned several trucks of his own through the years.

Bob enjoyed riding motorcycles most of his life. He had ridden in 48 states. He was looking forward to spring and another trip on the Blue Ridge Parkway in the Smoky Mountains.

Later in life he became an ordained minister. He was the assistant pastor of Cataract Baptist Church. He enjoyed reading the bible and studying God’s word. He worked hard at trying to grow the church and further the drive to win more souls for Christ. That was Bob’s greatest hope; that all of you would accept Jesus Christ in your hearts as Lord and Savior and that he will one day see you again. John 3:16 For whoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Bob is survived by his wife, Patricia “Patty” Martin of 65 years; son, James (Jan) Martin; sisters, Lillie Cox and Vie Martin; brothers, Lloyd, Jesse (Paula) and Frank (Martha) Martin; grandchildren, Paul (Liz) Martin and Keith (Whitney) Martin; great grandchildren, Emily, Matthew, Kayla, Faith, and Jon Jr. Martin; great-great grandson, Axle Martin; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He loved his adopted grandchildren, Aidan and Emersyn Lotspeich.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, James and Jewel Martin; sons, William Jr. and John Martin; grandson Jon Martin; great grandson Jack Martin; beloved daughter-in-law, Jennifer Martin; sister, Ruby Collester; brothers, Homer Lee and Arvin Earl.

Bob cherished the time he spent with brothers and sisters. Time spent with grandsons and nephews. The joy lasted long after the visit was over. He was always available with words of advice to family. The lives he touched were important to him. He held on to the memories, He loved to doodle on napkins while waiting on food or coffee, always a surprise for the waitress.

William Robert “Bob” Martin.

May the Lord welcome you with open arms. Family and Friends, I love you.
