William (Bill) Crips Moore of Carmel, IN, passed away on March 4, 2025, at the age of 84. He was born in Lafayette, IN, on March 11, 1940, to parents, John and Florence (Kirkpatrick) Moore.
Spending his childhood in Lafayette, Bill worked on his family’s farm until he spent his undergraduate years at Purdue University. He graduated with a BS in Political Science in 1961. Following graduation, Bill studied law and received a Doctorate of Jurisprudence from Indiana University. He was a member of the Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity. Being a career attorney in Indianapolis, Bill enjoyed working as a precinct committeeman during elections. Bill was often seen wearing Black and Gold during football and basketball season in support of his beloved alma mater. He was an active member of the Carmel United Methodist Church. Bill loved to donate his time in retirement to help others while working on several hurricane relief mission trips with the CUMC Romeo Group. Bill cherished time with his family, especially the annual family fishing trip to Canada. He was the man who never met a stranger and was always ready for a long, friendly conversation with anyone who would engage. Bill will be remembered as a loving and supportive husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law and big brother. He was very proud of each and every member of his family. Even if a couple of us are Notre Dame fans.
Bill married Sharon (Butler) in June 1964, she survives. He is survived by their children, Melanie Sabella and husband Mickey of Denver, NC, Amy Peters and husband Colin of Nantwich in Cheshire, England & John ‘JJ’ Moore of Noblesville, Indiana; grandchildren, Carrin Armitage and husband Lee, Jacob Peters & Michael William Sabella. He is also survived by his sister Kay Zimmerman of Sidney, Texas.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 - 1:30pm, March 17, 2025, at Carmel United Methodist Church located at 621 South Rangeline Rd., Carmel, IN 46032. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the same location.
