William Fletcher Patterson Jr.

William Fletcher Patterson, Jr., 67, a lifelong Indianapolis resident, passed away on Friday, November 18, 2022. He was born on April 22, 1955 in Indianapolis to the late William F. Patterson and Mary K. (Romine) Patterson.

Bill (or Billy) as he was known to family and friends, was a 1973 graduate of North Central High School and earned his BS in Business Administration from Ball State University in 1977. He currently worked for Arbor Homes as an estimator, a job he enjoyed waking up to every day.

Bill was a kind and simple man who loved his family (often reminding people that his family included his fur babies), music, racing and nature. He will be remembered for his gentle soul, witty yet repetitive dad jokes, and quirky personality. He spent many years camping with friends, watching his daughters’ softball games, skiing with family, and gathering with loved ones around food, beer and Indy sports.

Bill is survived by his daughters, Chelsy Winters and Ali Herman; his favorite sons-in-law, Mark Winters and Taylor Herman; and his canine companions, Relay and Cannoli. He was a loving Granddude to Knox, Rory and Brooks; and loved his granddogs, Mowgli, Hoosier, Wall-e and Lexi. Bill is also survived by his brother, John Patterson; friend and former spouse, Treva Patterson; and a large and supportive extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Arthur Patterson.

A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, November 25, 2022 from 1-3:30pm at Flanner Buchanan – Broad Ripple with a brief memorial service immediately following. Friends are invited to join the family for continued fellowship at Half Liter from 5-7pm following the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation would be encouraged to Indy Humane (formerly the Indianapolis Humane Society). The family requests casual attire for his services (jeans, flannel shirts, etc.) to honor Bill’s laid-back spirit.
