William E. Skaggs, Sr., 92 of Indianapolis passed away peacefully July 28, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born June 3, 1926 in Indianapolis.
He served his country in the US Navy from 1944-1946. He spent his career as a contractor working alongside his family members. He was involved in the Center Township GOP Club, Christian Park Neighborhood Association, a Precinct Committeeman and a volunteer for the American Red Cross for 20 years. He loved gardening and the outdoors.
He is survived by his children Judy Lizenby, William E. Skaggs, Jr, Nancy Wills, Michael Skaggs, June Borden, Nannette McCotter, Gwendolyn Skaggs, and Jacqueline Skaggs; 13 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years Henrietta Louise Skaggs; his parents William E. Skaggs and Leah Croan, and step-father Willis J. Croan.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 31 from 12 to 2 PM at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St, Indianapolis. A Funeral Service will follow at 2 PM at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery next to his wife.
