William Douglas "Bill" Wilson

William Douglas “Bill” Wilson, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away on Friday, May 28, 2021.  He was 79.  He was born on May 16, 1942, the eldest of six children born to Mary Catherine (La Masters) and William Floyd Wilson. He grew up in Indianapolis, graduating from North Central High School and later moving to Hendricks County.

William was a dedicated father of three children: Douglas William (Tania) Wilson, the late, Daniel Lee Wilson, and Monique Kay (Jason) Riggs.  His grandchildren include Dane Johnson, Courtney Ray, MacKenzie and Zoe Wilson.  He was preceded in death by his brothers: Stephen Wilson, Marc Wilson and Michael Wilson. His sisters, Patricia Steinbarger and Kathleen Kemper, survive.

William retired in 1996 from Allison Transmission after 27 years of service.  He enjoyed working on cars and collecting glass paperweights and coins.  He was a member of the Putnam Coin Club and United Auto Workers (UAW), Local 933.  He loved to frequent flea markets, estate sales and auctions around the State.  For the last eight years, William has resided at Hooverwood Nursing Facility.  May he rest peacefully.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at Flanner Buchanan-Broad Ripple, where friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until the service time.
