William “Bugs” L. Gray, 93, of Indianapolis, passed away December 9th, 2021. He was born June 26th, 1928 in Grider, Kentucky to parents Charles Worth and Dappy (Mullinix) Gray.
Many years ago, Bugs met the love of his life Lena Faye. They shared many wonderful decades together. Lena passed away in 2006.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953.
Bugs was a very hard worker. He retired from Chrysler, but continued working as a bus driver for surrounding schools well into his 80’s.
Bugs was a strong, loving gentleman. When he and Lena were younger, they loved to travel. He was a valued member of UAW #1226, and the Moose Lodge. Bugs was an excellent father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, always very involved in his family’s activities. He attended every sporting event, every birthday party, any excuse to spend time and support his family.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Bugs is survived by his daughter Teresa Minnis; grandchildren Danny Gray, Angie Harvey, Andrew Gray, Darby Lambert, Justin Gray, Misty Gray, Sherrie Gray, Matthew Gray, and Martin Brian Gray; 19 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; his siblings Sam Dudley Gray (Becky), Eva Jane Baldwin (Bob), half-siblings C.W. Gray, Jr. (Teresa) and Jennifer (Robert) Conner.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Lena; his sons Steven J. Gray and William D. Gray; and siblings Charles Gray, Dortha Garmon, Edna Wolf, Virginia Guthrie, Helen Gray Baker, Ruth Gray and half-sister Evelyn Logan.
Visitation for William will be Friday, December 17th at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park East from 12pm to 3pm. His funeral will begin at 3pm. He will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery.
