William (Bill) Viar

William (Bill) Viar passed away on April 17, 2020 at the age of 59. Bill was born on October 9, 1960 in Brooklyn, New York to parents Alberto and Aurea (Matos) Viar. He graduated from Bethpage High School and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Liberty University. Bill worked as the Director of the Special Risk Division of American Income Life Insurance Company since 1995. Bill had a special connection to 4-H and Cooperative Extension. He served on the Indiana 4-H Foundation Board of Directors until passing. In 2016, he was inducted into the National 4-H Hall of Fame which is an honor reserved for those whose commitment and service to 4-H truly embody the organization’s motto of “To Make the Best Better”. He also previously served as a Board Member for the Indiana Section of the American Camp Association.

Bill was a member of Grace Church and enjoyed serving the church. Guided by his strong faith, he was a loving and devoted husband and father and loved his family dearly. He loved traveling with his family, watching Indianapolis Colts games every Sunday, and playing golf with his friends.

Bill is preceded in death by his father, Alberto Viar, and is survived by his mother, Aurea (Matos) Viar.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Terri (Snell) Viar, whom he married on March 28, 1987; children: Erica Viar (significant other Daniel Sheroff), Monica (Viar) Brun (son-in-law Alex Brun); siblings: Nancy Johnston (Chris Johnston), Linda Petkof (Mike Petkof). Surviving are five nephews, one niece, uncles (aunts), and cousins.

Due to current restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, burial services will be private at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date once the current restrictions are lifted.
