William "Bill" Skiles Denton, Jr

William “Bill” Skiles Denton Jr., age 65, of Indianapolis, IN, died Sunday, January 12, 2020, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Evansville, IN on September 20, 1954, son of Rosie and William Denton Sr.

He was a 1976 graduate of Indiana University, where he made lifelong friends through his Phi Kappa Psi fraternity membership.

Bill’s career was spent in the commercial banking industry, where he served Indianapolis for 43 years with his most recent 7 years spent at Horizon Bank as Central Indiana Regional President. He had recently earned the Robert C. Dabagia Leadership Award, recognizing his outstanding leadership, professionalism, collaboration and commitment to customers, and community involvement. Bill served on the Board of the Indiana Statewide Certified Development Corporation, the Indiana Certified Business Credit Corporation, and was a member of the Eiteljorg Museum Finance Council.

As an avid sports fan, Bill loved supporting his alma mater, Indiana University, as well as the Indianapolis Colts and Pacers.

Bill’s accomplishments of which he was most proud are his two daughters, Danielle and Rachel. Bill took great pride in his daughters lives and achievements. Nothing made him happier than exploring the world with his two girls.

Bill is survived by his two daughters, Danielle and Rachel, and his beloved dogs, Simba and Reggie. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen (Alhand) Denton, and his parents.

Bill will be remembered for his strength, compassion, and calming composure which permeated everything he did. To know him was to love him.

A Memorial Gathering will be held Saturday, January 18 from 4 to 6 PM with a Celebration of Life beginning at 6 PM at Flanner Buchanan – Geist, 7855 Cork Road, Indianapolis.
