William (Bill) Michael Jarrett, 69, of Cicero entered into Eternal Life peacefully at home after a hard-fought battle with Leukemia on August 28, 2022.
Bill was born race day weekend on May 29, 1953, to the late Marion (Wingerning) and William E. Jarrett. He was born and raised on the Eastside of Indianapolis, Indiana. He attended Holy Spirit and was a 1971 graduate of Warren Central High School where he was a member of Student Council, wrestled, and played football. He attended Indiana University and graduated in 1975 with his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. At Indiana University he was employed at the School of Business and he was a member of the Chi Phi Fraternity.
While at college, he met the love of his life Kathy McClure. They were married on May 27, 1978. Together they built a beautiful life and family and created wonderful memories and traditions. Bill had a passion for sports including the Indy 500, IU basketball, Colts, Pacers, and cheering on his daughter’s and grandchildren’s sports teams. Bill was an active member of the Ransburg YMCA, worked out 3x a week, and played basketball every Wednesday night for many years. Later in life, he continued weight lifting with his grandsons and was a member of the local gym, Gymies. Bill loved being outdoors, family vacations, taking drives through the country side, relaxing in the hot tub, boating on the lake, watching the birds, and sunsets all while spending time with his wonderful wife by his side. Bill loved entertaining friends and family, but most of all he loved his grandchildren. He enjoyed overnights with them which included pizza parties, playing Scattergories, and big breakfasts.
Bill was a great story teller and conversationalist with a deep and engaging voice. He loved to make people laugh and to teach his children and grandchildren history, geography, and life lessons. He was a lifelong learner himself, kept up with current events, and became rather savvy with computer skills and technology. He was proud of his tool collection and was a DIY handyman and could fix just about anything around the house. Bill had a successful life long career as a sales representative and manager in the construction industry. He retired in 2019 as a Project Manager at Exterior Building Products.
Bill was one of a kind, charming, intelligent, funny, larger than life, and he will be sorely missed by all the lives he has touched. He will forever be his family’s protector, hero, and patriarch. His zest for life will live on through them.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Kathy J. Jarrett of Cicero, IN; his daughters, Carolyn (Richard) Benberry of Indianapolis, IN and Lindsay (Craig) Moore of Cicero, IN; his grandchildren, Cameron, Lilly, Chandler, Carter, and Riley; his sister, Mary (Vern) Hausz; nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents.
