Willa Mae Morrow Benford

Willa Mae Benford, was born to the late Odessa Morrow and Christine Morrow Stewart, Monday, November 7, 1927 in Robinson County, Tennessee.
Willa began elementary school in Tennessee, and finished her primary education in Kentucky. Willa Mae was a avid reader. She could be found many days in her youth, under the front porch reading. She would laugh saying ,she was actually hiding to get out of doing chores. Willa being a good student she received the second highest honors for the state Academic test required of all the students to proceed to High School. Willa graduated from Bransford High School in 1946. Shortly after graduation she moved to Indianapolis, Indiana where she attended I.U. School of Business for several semesters.
Willa married Robert W. Benford on October 9, 1954 to that union one son was born.

Willa was a pillar of the community. She helped run and maintain
Pebbie’s childcare service that spanned more than 20 years. Willa was also an employee for the Smart Shop for 25 years.
Willa was a faithful member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Usher and Missionary Board.
Willa was one of the original members of the “Do Nothing Club”, she traveled the world, made many lasting friendships and acquaintances throughout the years.

Willa departed this life on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at the age of n inety one years three months and five days.
Willa was proceeded in death by her husband Robert W. Benford, parents Odessa Morrow and Christine Morrow Stewart; son Robert L. Benford. grandson Darrius Benford sister Ruth Petty and brother Theophilus Morrow.

Willa leaves to cherish her memory and carry on her legacy:
Grandsons DeJuan, Tyron (Emily) Benford great grandson Kye Benford neices, Barbara Jones and Veronica (Arthur) Rice; nephews, Michael and Jeffrey Tandy, great nieces and nephews and a host of cousins and friends.
