Wilbur J. Elsner

Wilbur John Elsner born 1/3/1930 passed away 12/28/2024 just shy of his 95th birthday. Will graduated from Southport High School 1950 and from Indiana University school of business 1954. He married Rena Mae Rush in 1954. He and Rena remained married for 70 years at the time of his death. He served in the U.S. Air Force (Sampson A.F. Base, Geneva, N.Y.) as First Lieutenant from 1954 to 1956. He made many lifelong friends while in the service.

Will worked briefly after discharge for Phillips Petroleum then spent the remainder of his career at Business Furniture Corporation in Indianapolis as well helped run the family nursery in Crawfordsville, Indiana. In retirement he had many interesting hobbies and spent many years volunteering in the workshop at the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis.

He is survived by wife Rena, children Krisanne and Greg Elsner (Janice), granddaughter Olivia Elsner Corya (Richard Stoneham) and great grandchildren Jack and Luca. All those who knew him will remember him for his kindness, humor and sharp wit. These traits stayed with him through his last days.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 8, 2025 from 3 to 5 p.m.at the Barrington of Carmel, 1335 S.Guilford Rd., Carmel, IN 46032.
