Wanda L. Peters, born on October 13, 1939, peacefully passed away surrounded by her loving children on April 12, 2025. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whose strong faith in God was a guiding light throughout her life.
Wanda's life was a remarkable testament to her character, defined by her loving nature and the strength she showed in all aspects of her life. Her 64 wonderful years with her beloved husband, Robert Peters, were filled with love, laughter, and shared experiences. Together, they built a cherished family that became Wanda's proudest accomplishment.
Wanda spent her entire life around God and her faith. She led Christian Women Retreats. She sang for years in a quartet sharing songs of worship, with a group called the Gospel Lights. Wanda was a founding member of Community Christian Church until a move to Morristown Christian Church, where she stayed active in the Bible studies and worship. Her faith was never questioned and shared till the end the love of God.
An active member of her community, Wanda found joy in many pursuits. She had a passion for bird watching, painting, and traveling, which enriched her life and provided her with numerous memorable experiences. At her assisted living facility, she volunteered as part of the greeting committee, always ready to welcome new residents with warmth and kindness. Her greatest joy came from her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother, fostering deep and meaningful relationships with each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Wanda is survived by her loving daughter Sharon (Glen) Shafer, and her sons Brian (Nancy) Peters and Jeff Peters. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her grandchildren: Chelsie (Doug) Sweazy, Courtney (Ross) Meyer, Leah Peters, Megan Peters, Savanna Peters, and Taylor Peters; as well as her great-grandchildren, Collin Sweazy, Caroline Sweazy, Maverick Meyer, and Macie Meyer. Additionally, she is remembered by her nephew Mike Evans and her niece Beverly Elliot.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents Otis and Florence Evans, her husband Robert Peters, and her brother Bob Evans. Her family and friends will forever carry her spirit, remembering her devotion to her faith, her love for those around her, and her encouragement for others to have faith in God.
The visitation for Wanda L. Peters will be held on April 17, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Washington Park East, located at 10722 E Washington St, Indianapolis, IN 46229, followed by a funeral service beginning at 1:00 PM. A graveside service will take place at the Washington Park East Cemetery at 2:00 PM that same day.
Wanda's memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched, a beacon of strength, love, and unwavering faith.
