Walter J. "Jim" Henning

Walter James Henning, age 94, of Indianapolis, passed away on Friday, February 1, 2019 at the Madison Health Care Center, located on the Southside of Indianapolis. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on May 13, 1924 to Lloyd Ernest & Rena Mae (Mc Caslin) Henning.

Walter obtained his High School diploma from Arsenal Technical High School in 1956 after he had proudly and honorably served in the U.S Marine Corp. during WWII. On July 2, 1944 Walter married the love of his life, Virginia (Richmond) in Indianapolis.

He worked a majority of his career for the Best Lock Corporation in Indianapolis as a Director of Production/Supervisor of Government Contracts for 28 years until his retirement in 1989. Walter was an active member and participant in the building process of Christian Park Reformed Church in Indianapolis. Walter spent his retirement years living at The Villages in Lady Lake, Florida and was active in the Chapel of all Faiths Church, until his return to Indianapolis in the fall of 2012.

Walter loved taking vacations with his wife Virginia, his daughter Natalie & family and with his friends from the Villages in Florida. He loved boxing, golfing, serving in the church, sponsoring children around the world in need through various Christian organizations, and most of all spending quality time with his family.

Walter is survived by his son-in-law, Stephen Spencer: grandchildren, Aaron (Lisa) Spencer, Jamie (Michael) Collier, and Jeremy (Mary) Spencer: great- grandchildren, Emily Spencer, Jacob Spencer & Lauren Spencer: extended great-grandchildren, Mary Brown and Sarah Brown. Along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife Virginia Henning: daughters, Natalie Sue Spencer and Cynthia Diane Henning: brother, Fred Henning: Half siblings, Robert Mc Caslin, Joy Reynolds and Delores Gonzalez.
