Walter E. Gumbel

91, of Indianapolis, died on Friday, March 3, 2017, entering the presence of His Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He served his country in the United States Coast Guard. He graduated from Indiana University in 1949. Walt was married to the former Vianne Bloodworth on April 2, 1952 and celebrated 60 years of marriage shortly before her death in 2012. Walt retired from American States Insurance Company after thirty years of service. He is survived by his son, Dean Gumbel, and wife, Lori of Indianapolis, and granddaughter, Quinci, as well as many nieces and nephews. Visitation with the family will be at Flanner and Buchanan-Broad Ripple, Wednesday, March 8, 2017, from 3:00 to 6:30 pm with memorial service at 6:30 pm. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Global Outreach at Faith Missionary Church.
