Virginia Ruth Vane

April 15, 1937 — January 13, 2025

Camby, Indiana

 Virginia Ruth Vane, a beloved resident of Camby Indiana, passed away on January 13, 2025, at 87. Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, on April 15, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Harry L. and Ruth (Malone) Dix. 

Virginia dedicated many years of her life to education, serving as a teacher for MSD Decatur Township, earning the honor of “Teacher of the Year.”. She touched the lives of countless students and was known for her caring kindness, and passion for teaching. Throughout the years, many of her former students have told her and several of her family members that she was their all-time favorite teacher! That always warmed her heart. She also received “Woman of the Year,” from Ford Motor Company for her many contributions to her community, including 4-H, Girl Scouts, and Camby Community Youth Group. Virginia loved gardening, bird watching, and especially traveling and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children, Cindia (Mike) Chapman, Kevin (Debbie) Loy, Cheryl (Bruce) LaTulippe, her grandchildren, Chris, Landon, Heather, Devin, Tyler, Nathan, Kelsi, great grandchildren, Tryden, Blayze, Reese, Calli, Bryce, Emmerly, Andersen, Beckham and Arabella, brother, Bob (Diane) Dix, four bonus children, Jim, Michael, Elizabeth and Robert, and several nieces and nephews.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, John James Vane, who passed away in 2019. 

A visitation will be held in her honor on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at 10:00 am at Flanner & Buchanan Decatur Township, with the Funeral Service immediately following at 11:30 am. Virginia will be laid to rest at West Newton Cemetery, privately. In lieu of flowers the family requests any memorial gifts be made to Camby Community Church 8604 Camby Road Camby, Indiana 46113. 

Virginia’s warmth and kindness will be remembered by all who knew her.

The family would like to thank Beth Ash, who was her part time caretaker, and the staff at Worthington Place for their wonderful care of Virginia while she was a resident there.
