Virginia May (Laughlin) Noland,
96, of Indianapolis, IN passed away on March 14, 2017. She was born on February 25, 1921 to the late William Thomas Laughlin and Nellie May (Robertson) Laughlin. Virginia graduated from Manuel High School in 1939 and was the part owner and founder of Jimco Engineering of Indianapolis. She was born and raised in Indianapolis but as a child her and her sisters loved visiting their Grandparents Christopher & Emma Robertson on the Robertson Farm in Morgantown, IN. After high school, she worked as a secretary at Book Walters where they manufactured textbooks. She met James Noland and after their first date they kissed and she said she knew he was the one. They married on April 4, 1942. They were happily married for 65 years. She always liked to tell the story of how she and James two friends asked them if they wanted to come with them to get married. They agreed, so they woke up the Justice of Peace at 11pm and all got married in Martinsville, IN and then they all spent their honeymoon in Brown County Nashville, IN the following day. While James was in WWII Virginia worked at International Harvester running a grinder and had several other interesting jobs. Jimco Engineering machine shop was founded by James and Virginia in 1957. It is still currently and successfully in business operated by her son and daughter-in-law Daniel & Vickie Noland. Virginia & James loved traveling, boating and camping, but most of all they enjoyed spending time with their family. She was known for her beautiful smile, wonderful sense of humor and tendency to spoil all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was loved very much by her family and will be missed dearly.
