Virginia gave her life to Christ at an early age, she was a long-standing member of Friendship Baptist Church in South Bend, IN and when she moved back to her hometown she reunited as a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Indianapolis, IN.
Virginia attended Wendal Phillips School 63 and graduated from Crispus Attucks High School.
Virginia married Robert Lee Tyler Sr., and from that union they gave birth to three children.
Virginia retired as a Surgical Technician at Memorial Hospital of South Bend, Indiana, and after retirement she dedicated her time giving back to the community. Virginia was loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She mentors the young generation of people to achieve higher education. Prior to attending Sunday School, she also taught Sunday School. She devoted her time volunteering and tutoring at her old elementary school #63 in Indianapolis, IN, and Back elementary school in Dallas, TX, she volunteered at various food pantry facilities, in South Bend, Indianapolis and Dallas. She also performed in Black History Plays in Indianapolis and South Bend at the community centers. She enjoyed playing soft ball as the first base player on a Co-Ed Softball Team and played on a Bowling League for Memorial Hospital of South Bend.
She is survived by her two children, Derrick Lamont Tyler, Sr. and Marilyn Tyler, brother Clinton (Pamela) Lewis, sisters, Shirley Harris, Ernestine (James) Nelson and Barbara (Kenneth) Hall, three grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and two great- great grandchildren, and hosts of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A burial will follow at Floral Park Cemetery, 425 North Holt Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46222
