Virginia Davenport Willson died Monday January 31, 2022 at her home in Indianapolis at the age of 90. She was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA on August 4, 1931, and grew up in Pottstown, PA where she graduated from Pottstown High School. After graduating from Cedar Crest College in 1954, she worked as a school teacher. She was active in her church where she met her husband, the late Reverend John Willson, whom she married in 1953. They moved to Indianapolis in 1969 where he was the associate pastor at Broadway United Methodist Church.
Virginia’s love for American History is reflected in the many years she spent both working and volunteering at Connor Prairie and the Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site. She was an adventurous traveler who loved exploring the United States and foreign countries in Europe and Latin America. The nativities she collected during her travels were among her most cherished possessions. She will be remembered for her sense of humor, delicious cooking, and beautiful needlework.
She is survived by her three children, four grandchildren two great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at a future date at Marquette Manor in Indianapolis.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Conner Prairie or St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.
