Virginia Mae Campbell

October 31, 1934 — January 8, 2025

Indianapolis

Virginia Mae "Ginny" Campbell was born on October 31, 1934, and passed away peacefully in her bed at home on January 8, 2025, at the age of 90. Her parents, Marion E. Campbell and Pauline J. Campbell preceded her in death. Surviving is her sister, Barbara J. Galloway; two of her dearest friends, Billie Maxwell of Michigan and Vernice Hankins of Oregon; several nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Ginny retired from Indiana Bell Telephone Company after 35+ years and was always as hard worker, doing whatever was needed to take care of herself. Ginny was an avid gardener and was a member of the Greenwood Garden Club. She also was a volunteer for the Metropolitan School District.

Anyone who knew Ginny, knew the love she had for all living things, from the children she volunteered with, to the animals she rescued and fed to the beauty she planted around her homes. While life wasn't always the roses she planted, Ginny was a believer of moving forward, loving as she went along and always was kind. Ginny was a strong independent woman with an outer softness that belied her strength. Ginny was quick witted, had a dry sense of humor (which she inherited from her father) and never failed to appreciate and thank those who were caring for her even in her last days.

We want to thank her dear support system, Stillwaters Adult Daycare Center and all her friends there for 4 ½ years. Also, we thank Arbor Village transportation and Luminary Hospice which helped us for the last couple months of her life. These people were dear to Ginny and to us as well.

There will be a simple graveside service in the spring for Ginny, where her body will be laid near her parents. A Celebration of Life will be held mid-February at her home. More details on that will be announced later.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations in her honor to Stillwaters Adult Daycare Center, 7160 Shadeland Station Way, Indianapolis, IN 46256.
