Virginia Mae Blum

January 14, 1921 — January 28, 2025

After celebrating her 104th birthday two weeks ago Virginia Mae Avegno Blum passed away January 28th. Virgie was born January 14, 1921 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Edward Numa Avegno and Mae Stenson Smith Avegno. Virgie and Fred made Indianapolis their lifelong home and Fred preceded her in death in 2001. Virgie also had one sister, Mildred Booth who also preceded her in death.

Virgie was a homemaker and actively participated in many of her family's activities. She was an active member of First Meridian Heights Presbyterian Church and an avid member of Questers, an antique study group. Virgie also volunteered many years at Crossroads Rehabilitation Center and was a member of Crossroads Guild. She enjoyed painting beautiful china for many years and then began collecting vintage fashions which became her passion.

She is survived by her children Lisa (Bob) Bonham of Lakeville, IN; Paul (Rue) Blum of Akron, OH and Keith "Fritz" (Kathy) Blum of Indianapolis. Virgie also leaves behind 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

A private gravesite service will be held and a celebration of life will be held Saturday April 12 at The Capri Restaurant from 2-4 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Meridian Heights Presbyterian Church, Crossroads or Questers. The family would also like to thank all the wonderful workers at Story Cottage Williams Creek and Brighton Hospice.
