On December 19, 2024, Violet passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. Born in Henderson, KY on March 15, 1946, to Orin and Irene Capps (Wilkerson). Violet was the 2nd born of their 6 children.
In June 1962, she married Lester R. Patterson, Jr., and was a dedicated wife until his passing in 1997. In June 2019, she married Raymond E. Millikan and moved to Kingman, IN.
Violet was an advocate of children, proven by the fact she was a foster parent, daycare provider, and most recently, an appointed trusted caregiver for children under DCS care.
Violet was a Brownie Troops Leader, Susan G. Komen Ambassador, and Sponsor for the Mt. Vernon High School Band and color guard. Violet was a strong supporter of her eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, first husband, sister (Sharlene Orman) and many extended loved ones.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond Millikan; son, Lester R. Patterson III; daughters, Tammy Goodman (Barry) and Tracy Paris; sisters, N. JoAnn Minton and Rosemary Belman; brothers, Curtis Capps and Tom Capps; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass took place Thursday, December 26, 2024, 10am, at Saint Lawrence Catholic Church - 4650 Shadeland Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46226.
A Graveside Service is planned for the Spring of 2025.
