Violet E. Kavanaugh, 98, of Indianapolis, IN, died September 6, 2019. She was a former resident of Green Valley, AZ. Violet was born in Rockford, IL, on March 16, 1921 to the late Charles B. and Rose (Lang) Anderson.
She was a dental assistant, practicing in Detroit, MI, for many years, retiring in 1972. She also was a volunteer for over 15 years in Tuscon, AZ, with the St. Elizabeth Health Center and was an active member of Our Lady of Valley Catholic Church (Green Valley, AZ).
Her survivors include daughter-in-law Sonia C. Carlson; grandchildren Nicole Carlson and Gordon T. Carlson (Krissy); great-grandchildren Gordon S. Carlson (Haley) and Marleigh Carlson-Mills (Chase); sister Lorraine; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husbands Gordon W. Carlson and Dr. Harry M. Kavanaugh, DDS; son Gordon C. Carlson; and her sisters Margaret, Rosemary, Frances, Daisy, and Betty.
A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, September 12, in St. Paul’s Hermitage (501 N. 17th Avenue, Beech Grove, IN) at 2 PM with visitation 12 noon until the time of mass. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery (Indianapolis, IN).
Memorial contributions may be made to the Benedictine Nuns c/o the Ferdinand Monastery (Ferdinand, IN) or to St. Paul’s Hermitage.
