Viola Bell Jackson

On the afternoon of May 9, 2021, an angel of the Lord appeared and took Viola B. Jackson home.

Viola B. Jackson was born September 21, 1940 in Nepton, Kentucky to the late Walter and Lucy Frances Williams. She was the 7th child in a family of nine children. Viola accepted Christ at an early age in Nepton, Kentucky at the 1st Baptist Church.

Viola attended Fleming County High School and graduated in 1958. During the summer, while in high school, Viola worked for Mr. Dave’s family. After graduation from high school, Viola relocated to Indianapolis to be close to her brother Marvin, Jim, and sister Frances. John, Viola’s high school sweetheart relocated to Indianapolis after her graduation. On September 23, 1961, Viola was united in Holy Matrimony to John Jackson to this union they were blessed with three children, Arnold (AJ), Desirree’, and Connie.

After relocating to Indianapolis, Viola immediately found a church home in CMBC Indy Church. She was a lifelong and faithful member as well as a dedicated Sunday School teacher, a sponsor of the Pastor’s Choir, a member of the Altar Circle, and a Deaconess.

Viola was a housekeeper for several families for many years to help support her family. Viola worked for many years during Christmas at L.S. Ayres and William H. Block Co. wrapping presents to earn extra money to purchase Christmas gifts for her family. Her main job was being a housewife, taking care of her husband, children, and home.

Viola was known for making delicious yeast rolls, cakes, pies, and cookies for family and friends. Viola will most be remembered for her warm smile, her kind and giving heart. Even in sickness, Viola still had a smile and thought of others often. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, and loyal friend. Viola loved the Lord, her husband, children, family, friends, and the church. She will be greatly missed by all.

She died at the age of 80 and was preceded in death by her husband (John), her son Arnold (AJ), her parents, Walter and Lucy, five brothers, and one sister. She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Desirree’ (Kendall) France, and Connie Irvin, four grandchildren, Branden Irvin, Jackson Carr, Jayde Irvin, and Monetta France, sister Frances Bills, brother Robert (Sandy) Williams, and host of other relatives and many friends.
