Victor Royce Edwards, aka VRE, 82 of Noblesville, passed away on Friday May 1, 2020. He was born on August 17, 1937 in Merom, IN, to the late Harold Perry and Doris Edwards. An athletic prodigy in high school, and always larger than life, Vic was a member of Sigma Chi’s “Chapter Eternal” at Butler University from 1955 to 1959, where he played varsity basketball. More importantly, there is where he met and fell in love with his soulmate, Judy. Their first date was memorable because he arrived at her sorority on horseback to carry her on side saddle.
Following college, Vic served in the US Air Force as a navigator of B-52’s, flying during the Cuban Missile Crisis, among other engagements. He was stationed at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, CA. Following his service in the armed forces, in 1972 Vic went on to establish V.R.Edwards Company Inc., and enjoyed near 50 years of success as a manufacturer’s rep in the ever-competitive machine tool industry.
Always the gentle giant who gave the best bear hugs around, Vic is survived by his wife of 60 years, Judith Ann; son, Jeffrey Scott (Samantha); grandchildren, Braxton and Makayla; daughter-in-law, Weigie; and Paula Lurvey, who was like a daughter to him. He is preceded in passing by his son, Christopher Jeffrey, and brother, Gail.
A private celebration of life for Victor will be held at Flanner Buchanan – Carmel. Memorial contributions may be made in Vic’s name to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation. Please visit www.flannerbuchanan.com to sign the online guest register.
