Vicky Neuman

B Vicky Neuman, age 94, of Westfield, IN, passed away and joined her husband on March 24, 2023.

Vicky was born on July 21, 1928, to Julius and Mollie (née Mintz) Bloom in New York, NY. Vicky was known for her fervent love of her family, a love of animals of all kinds, her bright smile, and her quick-witted sense of humor.

Vicky met Arnold (Arnie to those who knew and loved him), the man who would turn into the love of her life, in the early 1940s. The two were married in 1950, in New York, NY. After the birth of their second son, Vicky and Arnie moved to Long Island, NY, and later to Connecticut in 1967. After Arnie’s retirement, they moved to Westfield, IN, in 1996.

Vicky wore many hats throughout her life (both literally and figuratively). To her husband Arnie, Vicky was a life partner, an ever present person with whom to traverse the ups and downs of life. To her daughter, Vicky was a ballet mom, taking Tarra to classes multiple times a week for roughly a decade and helping everyone backstage in the dressing room for every recital. To her granddaughter Krystina, Vicky functioned as both mom and grandma, as well as general taxi driver traveling between home, the skating rink, and the local high school. To her grandson Julian, Vicky created literary culinary classics cooking up green eggs and ham. To her friends, Vicky was the ultimate clown, literally dressing in clown costume and making people laugh at church events and parties where she told jokes and made balloon animals (and sometimes balloon animals that turned into jokes). As well as caring for her children and grandchildren, Vicky cared for a number of dogs, cats, ferrets, and a horse, as well as the occasional rabbit.

Vicky is predeceased by her parents Julius and Mollie, her sister Helen, her daughter-in-law Connie, her husband of 61 years Arnold, her cousins Sydney and Arthur, and other beloved family members and friends. She is survived by her children, Gary, Brad (Bonnie), and Tarra (Christopher) Regan; her four grandchildren, Ashley Ogurick, Krystina, Danielle Deak, and Julian Regan; her two (and growing) great-grandchildren, Emma and David Ogurick; her sister-in-law Shirley; and her niece Barbara (Larry) Berkowitz.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at 12:00 noon at Hamilton Memorial Park (4180 Westfield Blvd, Westfield, IN 46062). For those who are unable to attend the service, a celebration of life will be held the day after her birthday, on July 22, 2023, in Westfield, IN. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to your local humane society or any other charitable organization that cares for animals.
