Vickie L. Rayburn

February 3, 1957 — January 16, 2025

Indianapolis

Vickie L. Rayburn, born on February 3, 1957, in Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2025, surrounded by her beloved family. Vickie was a shining light in the lives of those who knew her, known for her fun-loving spirit, her unwavering love, and her incredible ability to make everyone feel cherished.

A dedicated project manager for INDOT for 42 years, Vickie approached her career with the same passion she brought to every aspect of her life. She was driven and sincere, instilling the same values of hard work and dedication in her children and grandchildren.

Vickie's heart found its match in her loving husband, Roger "Dean" Rayburn. They met through a serendipitous introduction at a donut shop, where Vickie worked alongside Dean's mother. From that moment, they crafted a beautiful love story culminating in their marriage on November 9, 1974. Together, they celebrated 50 wonderful years, a testament to the deep bond they shared.

Family was everything to Vickie. She devoted herself to her role as a mother to Amy (Jim) Craft and Josh (Shayla) Rayburn, always the constant supporter, never missing her kids' games and later, the games of her grandchildren. She reveled in being the world’s best mamaw and great Mamaw, a title she wore with pride. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Andrew (Rachel), Aden, Jayden, Francis, and her great-grandchildren, Harper and Kingsley.

Beyond family, Vickie's vibrant personality shone through in her hobbies and interests. She was an avid bowler, a proud member of the Southside Turner's Club, and spent many joyful hours traveling and embarking on countless cruises. Her spirit for life was infectious, and her laughter could fill any room, especially during memorable moments shared with her sister Connie, with whom she fondly reminisced about time spent as ticket takers at Market Square Arena.

Throughout her life, she faced challenges with grace and fortitude. Vickie was preceded in death by, her mother, Donna Dillard, her stepmother, Pat Richardson her stepfather, Thurman Dillard and her brother Larrie Dillard. She is survived by her father Raymond Richardson, sister Connie (John) Siebenthal and brothers Gary Richardson, Kevin (Elaine) Richardson, Duane (Tammie) Dillard, Brian (Michelle) Dillard, Terry (Susan) Richardson and sister-in-law Ruthanne Dillard, alongside many treasured nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
