Verlan I. Willis, 83, of Indianapolis, passed away February 25th, 2021. She was born May 4th, 1937, in Stendal, Indiana, to parents Dilce and Esther (Smith) Cook.
Verlan met the love of her life, Eldon Willis, when she was just 16 years old. They married and shared over 47 years together. Eldon passed away in 1999.
She worked and retired from Western Electric. She then continued working at Herff Jones for over 15 years.
Verlan was a loving, hardworking woman. She enjoyed fashion and looking her best. Verlan loved her family, and was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Verlan was the mother to four children, The Late Terry (Lou Anne) Willis, Janice Smith, Ronnie (Michelle) Willis, and Greg (Teresa) Willis.
She is also survived by her grandchildren Toni, Ronnie Jr., Cole, Ian, Jake, Parker and Zack; Great-grandchildren Alex, Alexus, Laci; siblings Mary, Betty, Cindy, Charlotte, Wayne, Darrell, and Gary.
Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Eldon; her son Terry Willis; son-in-law Norman Smith; and her siblings Otis, Richard, Karen, and Janice.
