Velma Reed

Velma M. Reed, resident of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed peacefully at home with family and friends by her side on October 18, 2021 at 87 years old.

Velma was a 50-year member of Brookside United Methodist Church. She was employed at RCA Western Electric, H P Wasson, and Jen-air. She retired in 1985 to become a homemaker. She loved nature and camping. She was also a Girl Scout leader.

She was married to her beloved husband, Foster, for 69 years.

After she retired, they traveled in motor homes to all 50 states, Canada, and Mexico. She loved to travel, and the south west was her favorite.

They spent 25 winters in Arizona, her favorite state. She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Janie Edward of Kentucky; 3 sisters Sadie Wheeler, Edith Murphy, Christine Cochran; and her daughter, Georgia Engle.

She is survived by her husband, Foster Reed; granddaughter, Amber Engle; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St. Indianapolis, IN 46229, from 10am to 2pm. Funeral services will be help at 2pm at the funeral home with entombment to follow.
