Tiney Farris

Tiney Farris, 93, passed away January 16th, 2025. She was born in Leslie county, Kentucky on December 28th, 1931 to parents Waltis and Doshia (Lewis) Kilburn. 

Tiney grew up in Leslie county, and while only attending school until the 8th grade, she later studied for her GED. And though she didn’t take the test, she was satisfied proving to herself she was able to do the work.

At the age of 20, Tiney married the love of her life, Ronald Lloyd Farris in Lexington Kentucky. They enjoyed 41 wonderful years together before his passing in 1993. With many shared interests, she and Ronald along with their four devoted sons loved camping and traveling together.

Tiney was a valued member of The Lighthouse Baptist Church, before moving to Vero Beach, Florida in 2019. While there, she would still view church services via YouTube.

Tiney was a vibrant, compassionate woman who loved and was loved by many. She enjoyed countless hobbies and activities, including gardening, bowling, card games, and quilting. She and her family loved the outdoors; camping, fishing, and swimming. Tiney loved a challenge, whether in the kitchen or playing euchre, and was always very competitive (although she wouldn’t admit it). 

She is survived by two sons, David and Waltis as well as two sisters, Lorene Altizer and Josephine Cornett.

She is preceded in death by two sons, Paul and Stephen, as well as her parents and 11 siblings.

Visitation for Tiney will be Saturday January 25th, from 4-8pm at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park East. Her funeral will be Sunday, January 26th, at 1:30pm. She will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery.
