Thomas Louis Adkins,
80, of Nineveh, Indiana, went to his Eternal Home, on Saturday, March 5, 2022.
He was born in Indianapolis to Howard and Alma Louise (Roberts) Adkins on October 25, 1941. He was raised by his mother and stepfather, Benjamin Robert Swopes.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather; his first wife, Patricia Spelich Adkins; his son, Bradley Joseph Adkins; his brother, David Lee Adkins; and his sister, Adah Adams.
Mr. Adkins is survived by his wife, Regina Ramsey Adkins of Nineveh; his children, Becky (Curtis) Haywood of Rockville, Kimberley (Andrew) Warner of Westfield, Delannie Adkins of Nineveh, and Tommy Adkins of Nineveh. He is survived by his grandchildren, Katelyn Haywood, Devin (Kay) Blankenship, Kyle (Renae) Blankenship, Breanna (Jon) Schiele, and Donald (known as Doodle). He is also survived by his great grandchildren, Kevin Blankenship, Isaac Blankenship, Axel Blankenship, Matthew Blankenship, and Dallas Schiele. He also leaves behind a sister, Barbara Umversaw, of Indianapolis; a brother, Rev. Benjamin (Julie) Swopes, Jr. of Morgantown; and a brother, Howard Adkins; along with multiple nieces and nephews.
Mr. Adkins was a member of Trinity Southern Baptist Church, where he spent 40+ years as a “money counter” for vacation bible school, among many other things, including singing bass in the choir.
He retired from Chevrolet Truck and Bus in 2006, where he had worked since he was 19. Tom was an avid fisherman and loved doing woodworking. He loved listening to Elvis and was an excellent dancer and roller skater.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at Trinity Southern Baptist Church, 375 E. Southport Road Indianapolis, Indiana 46227, from 4pm-6pm with Funeral Service to immediately follow at 6pm. Entombment will be at Floral Park Cemetery. Arrangements by Flanner Buchanan – Floral Park.
