Thomas Lee Duke, 74, Carmel, was reunited with his love, Judith Duke, on November 23, 2016. He was born June 1, 1942, in Indianapolis, the son of the late Morris Duke and Genevieve Meek.
While attending Butler University on a double baseball and football scholarship as a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity, he met the “1962 Dream Girl of Kappa Sigma”, Judith Cornell. He and Judith were married on November 18, 1962, in Indianapolis. Judy was the love of his life and he took great care of her throughout her illness until she passed on January 15, 2010, after 47 years of marriage. Together with his son, Thomas Robert Duke, they owned and operated Duke’s Ultimate Car Wash in Carmel. He enjoyed playing golf and was avid Indianapolis Colts and NASCAR fan. He loved his fishing trips spent with his son and grandsons. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family, especially his two grandsons. He coached Carmel Dad’s Club Baseball for 16 and 17 year olds, and was honored to be selected as the coach for state travelling team for that age group. He and Judy, along with their children, were blessed with rescuing and welcoming new additions to their family. Their pets were, Rebel, Chelsea, Max, Cocoa, and Duke.
He is survived by two daughters, Deborah Ann Duke and Jennifer Lee Duke; two grandsons, Brent Robert Duke and Daniel Montgomery (fiancée Courtney) Duke; daughter-in-law, Kellie Duke; brother, Bob (Sandra) Duke; nephew, Paul (Charity) Duke; niece, Sarah (Kyle) Cross; and several great nieces and nephews; friend, Shari Bradley; and beloved chocolate lab, Snickers. He was preceded in passing by his son, Thomas Duke; and his step-father, John Meek.
