Thomas J. Lee, passed peacefully on September 22, 2024, at the age of 94. Born on October 6, 1929, in Indianapolis, Thomas lived a life filled with dedication, compassion, and a love for family and community.
He attended St. Catherine Catholic grade school and graduated from Manuel High School. A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Thomas served his country with honor. Following his military service, he began a career as a typesetter for the Indy Star. Alongside his professional endeavors, he was a devoted coach, guiding numerous Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) Football teams. Throughout his coaching career, Thomas received several awards in recognition of his impactful contributions and the inspiration he provided to young athletes.
Sports were a significant part of Thomas's life; he embraced all sporting activities with enthusiasm, but none captured his heart quite like his beloved Chicago Cubs and Indianapolis Colts. In addition to his passion for sports, Thomas enjoyed fishing.
Thomas is remembered by his loving cousins, nieces and nephews and close friends, Leon and Vivian Ramsey.
He is predeceased by his parents, Anthony M. Lee and Marie J. Lee; his beloved wives, Lois J. Lee and Nancy Lee, his sons, Michael and Christopher Lee, and his daughters, Barbara (Mike) O'Connell and Karen Sue Lee and brothers James (Dorothy) Lee, John (Lois) Lee and Joseph (Betty) Lee.
A memorial service to honor Thomas's life will be held on October 3rd, at St. Roch Catholic Church, located at 3600 S. Pennsylvania Street in Indianapolis. The mass of Christian burial will begin at 11:00 AM, with the opportunity for reflection and remembrance beginning at 10:30 AM at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Roch Church or the Catholic Youth Organization.
