Tom grew up in Lafayette until he was about one year old and then moved to Indianapolis with his parents and older sister, Karen. He graduated from Warren Central High School in 1968 where he played on the football team. Tom enjoyed showing and jumping competitions with his horse, Ebony, and won several ribbons throughout his youth. In 1972, he graduated from Vincennes University with an Associate’s Degree in Aviation. After college, Tom worked in various jobs in aviation, before getting hired by Britt Airways in 1976. He spent most of his career flying for Continental Airlines starting in 1987, retiring in 2014. He enjoyed caring for his dog, Tucker, watching the Indianapolis Colts, golf, and had a big sense of humor. His laughter was infectious. His two biggest loves in his lifetime were his children and his career. He was so proud of both and would beam whenever he had a chance to share them.
