Thomas Joseph Cisco, born 1933 in Indianapolis to Thomas McKenna and Wilhelmina Lorine (Schifferdecker) Cisco, entered into his eternal rest on May 8, 2022. Beloved by his family, Tom’s love for them was never ending. He always held them close to his heart. He enjoyed supporting them in their academics, sports, scouts, and all endeavors they pursued. He attended St. Therese Little Flower Catholic grade school and Thomas Carr Howe High School (’52). Tom attended Butler University (’56) and was a Life Loyal member of Sigma Chi Fraternity, Rho Chapter. From 1956-1958, Tom served in the U.S. Army, 5th Training Regiment, Fort Leonard Wood, MO as a Chaplain’s Assistant earning the rank of SP-5. He was a pianist and accompanist with the Special Services Entertainment Unit. He served 1958-1962 in the U.S. Army Reserve Unit at Fort Harrison. Tom then earned his BA from Indiana Central College (U of I). He was employed by American Fletcher National Bank, American United Life Insurance, Waddell and Reed. He retired in 1995 from the State of Indiana Employment Security Division. As a pianist since age six, he taught students while in high school. His love of music led him to organize and manage “The Naturals” dance combo. For 22 years they played for private parties, special events, weddings, bar mitzvahs, American Legion and Veterans of America organizations. Tom was a member of the Indianapolis Chapter of the National Association of Pastoral Musicians and an Archdiocesan certified cantor. He served on the Little Flower Liturgy Committee, was a lay minister, lector and cantor. He was also cantor and pianist at Immaculate Heart of Mary, Holy Spirit (Indpls), Our Lady of Lourdes and Nativity Catholic Churches. Tom was a Community Little League baseball coach. He is survived by his wife M. Linda (Babinec) Cisco of 62 years and his children Bradley Cisco, Martin Cisco and Maria Cisco; daughter-in-law Jennifer Walters Cisco (Martin); grandchildren LeighAnne Cisco, Matthew Cisco (wife Hillary), Walker Cisco (wife Lauren), Kevin Walters (wife Rachel), Theodore “TJ” Walters; great-grandchildren Kaleb Smith and Adalee Cisco. Tom was preceded in death by great-granddaughter Halleigh Smith. Celebration of Life will be Saturday, May 14th, at St. Barnabas Catholic Church: viewing 10-11am, Mass 11am, followed by luncheon in the cafeteria; then burial at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Vincent De Paul Food Pantry (www.SVDPINDY.org) or charity of choice. Condolences may be sent to www.FlannerBuchanan.com.
