Thomas J. Spahn, 63, Carmel, passed away November 23, 2016. He was born November 10, 1953, in Evansville, the son of the late Frank and Irene (Meyer) Spahn. He married Jane E. Klicka on June 14, 1980.
Tom received his bachelor degree from Indiana University and later graduated from Indiana University School of Medicine. He completed his residency at IU Medical Center and St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was a partner with Otolaryngology Associates for 30 years. He was honored to be named Chief Medical Officer with WoundVision from 2013 until 2016. He was also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a Fellow in the Otolaryngology Head and Neck Society.
He was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church, Holy Rosary, and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. He enjoyed cooking, traveling, and playing golf; but his greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Jane E. Spahn; three children, Jeffrey T. (Jaimi) Spahn, Kristen J. (fiancé Michael Schmitt) Spahn, Michael F. (fiancée Stephanie Henthorn) Spahn; two grandchildren, Emma and Henry Spahn; and a brother, James G. (Jayne) Spahn. He was preceded in passing by his sister, Mary Jo Franco.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 29, 2016, at St. Luke Catholic Church, 7575 Holliday Drive. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, November 28, 2016, at Flanner and Buchanan – Carmel, 325 East Carmel Drive, with the Rosary being recited at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Women’s Care Center, 4901 West 86th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46268 or to the Holy Family Shelter, 907 North Holmes Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46222.
