Thomas (Tom) Franklin Clouse, 84, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2024, surrounded by his family.
Tom was born in Indianapolis on January 22, 1940, to the late Everett Franklin and Margaret Evelyn (Sullivan) Clouse. He was a Franklin Central graduate and a 50-year member of the Acton Masonic Lodge.
Tom’s heart was evident in everything he was part of. As owner and president of Ace Battery Inc., for decades, he operated his business with the same honesty and integrity that he displayed in all aspects of his life. During the Blizzard of ‘78, while ambulances were unable to travel the roads, Tom picked up a local doctor on his snowmobile and took him to a residence to deliver a baby. When he wasn’t working, he loved playing golf and keeping a pristine yard. After retiring, Tom enjoyed volunteering with the Franklin Township Historical Society, traveling across the world, and experiencing different sights and cultures, including hiking the mountains of Rwanda to see the Silverback Gorillas and the Godzilla statue in Japan. While he appreciated his many adventures, Tom relished a simple cup of coffee on the patio or breakfast at one of his many favorite breakfast spots.
Tom is survived by his wife Brenda Toney; children, Lisa (Allen) Harkness, Shannon (Kevin) Dohrman, and Devin (Michelle) Clouse; three grandchildren, Brock (Meghan) Harkness, Ella Clouse and Parker Clouse; two great-grandchildren, Theodore Harkness and Louise Harkness.
He is also survived by his sisters, Shirley Kirkham, Gladys Canada, Barbara Douglas, Nora Scudder; brothers, Jim Clouse, Everett (Sandy) Clouse, and Tim (Tammy) Clouse. Tom was blessed to connect with Brenda’s four sons and their families, Paul (Laurie) Casey (Sean and Nick), Brian Ross, Jason Ross (Caleb and Anna), and Matthew (Lisa Yanagida) Ross (James).
Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara (Jean) Clouse, his parents, and three siblings.
Services will be held at Flanner Buchanan-Washington Park East, 10722 East Washington Street, Indianapolis with visitation on Monday, August 19, 2024, from 4 - 8 p.m. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday at 12 p.m., also at the funeral home.
