Thomas Buell

Thomas Buell, 79, of Greenfield, IN, passed away on February 6^th, 2022. He was born April 8^th, 1942, in Greensburg, Indiana to parents Clifford and Leota (Bayless) Buell.

Tom grew up in Indianapolis, where he graduated from Broad Ripple High School.

On February 9^th, 1962, Tom married the love of his life Sandy Ridenour. They shared 60 wonderful years together.

Tom was a policeman. A job at which he excelled and enjoyed. From 1967-2005, he worked as a detective for the Indianapolis Police Department, specializing in the juvenile branch. From 2008-2018, he was a lieutenant for the Lawrence Police Department. Tom took great pride in his work and was very passionate about serving and protecting our Indianapolis communities.

He was also a successful real estate agent for Century 21 Gold Key during the 1990’s and 2000’s.

Tom was a loving, hardworking gentleman. For many years he served as a deacon in his church, and he was an integral part of several school boards in the area. Tom was passionate about softball and baseball. He participated in several softball leagues for churches and recreation leagues. He coached high school softball and church softball teams. He was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan. He also enjoyed shopping and working in his yard. Above all, he adored his family and loved spending time with them.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sandy Buell. Tom also leaves behind his daughters: Terri Griffin, Sherri (Joel) Hargrave, and Christina (Thomas) Walker, his grandchildren: Joshua Griffin, Nikki Norwood, Lyndsey Griffin, Craig Hargrave, Kyle Tooke, Trent Hargrave, and Megan Tooke, his two great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter, his sister-in-law Mary Poe, and his brother-in-law and best friend Darryl Poe. Tom also has many nieces and nephews. A wonderful dog owner, he is also survived by Missy.

He joins his parents and siblings Donna (Patrick) Larrabee, Jo (Bob) Tremain, and Jean (Vince) Goebel in heaven.

Tom’s visitation will be Tuesday February 15^th, at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park East from 10am-1pm. His funeral will begin at 1pm. He will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery. If you have need additional information please visit www.flannerbuchanan.com
