Our Dad passed in the early morning hours Wednesday. Tom was 87 years old, soon to be 88 on August 5th. He married our Mom, who had 4 boys: Larry, Kenny, Doug and Jeff. He was a wonderful father to all of us. His top attribute – He loved us and was always there for us, anytime we needed him. Tom had 8 grandchildren: Ben Neff, Elizabeth Trueblood, Becky Parsley, Tim Neff, Shauna Lehrman, Abby Fritch, Holly MacDougall, Ricky Neff; 13 great-grandchildren: Jack Neff, Molly Neff, Maddie Neff, Noah Lahrman, Nick Lahrman, Sophia Lahrman, Ethan Parsley, Alexis Parsley, Will Parsley, Graeme Fritcha, Camille Fritcha, Celia Fritcha and Patrick Neff.
Tom was born in Cumberland, Maryland. His siblings are Teresa, Freida, Eva, Francis and Danny. After a year in business school Tom joined the United States Marine Corp (basic training at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina). He served during the Korean War. His plan was to venture westward to become a cowboy. He made it as far as Indiana where he met Wilma. He trained in tool and die, and subsequently took a job at Chrysler, Indianapolis, in skilled trades. He met our Mom working as a waitress at a diner near Chrysler. They were married 56 years. He retired from Chrysler after 35 years.
He prepared his sons to brave the world as men. He raised us to be God fearing, hardworking and patriotic citizens. We can’t express in words how much we will miss him. We know he is in a better place with our Mother.
We love you so much Tom (Dad). See you on the other side.
