Thiep T. “Chi” or “Kim” Leist, 78, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on April 6, 2018.
She was born in Son Tay, Vietnam on May 2, 1939 to Hong Van Phat and Tran Thi Lich.
Surviving are her husband of 46 years, Michael A. Leist of Indianapolis, IN; son, Michael N. Leist Jr (wife Carrie) Indianapolis, IN; daughter, Rose Lewis (husband Nelson) Indianapolis, IN; three grandchildren, Nelson Lewis Jr, Aidan and Austin Leist; siblings, Tuan Tran (wife Trung) Noblesville, IN; Son Hong (wife Gai) Indianapolis, IN; Phuc Hong (wife Mai) Indianapolis, IN; Van Malia (husband Phung) Indianapolis, IN; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents; two brothers Nghia Nguyen and Tam Hong; and a granddaughter Jacquelynn Lewis.
Kim took a great deal of pride in her family and career. She started her career working as a Vietnamese Government employee in Vietnam working for the US Army where she met her loving husband, Michael. With over 40 years of government service working for the Navy, Army, DFAS, and Homeland Security, she retired in May 2009. After she retired, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, going to the casino, gardening, and cooking.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 10th from 6:00-9:00pm at the Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East at 10722 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46229. The Service will be held on Wednesday, April 11th starting at 10:00am at the Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East at 10722 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46229 followed by a procession to the burial site where she will be laid to rest.
