Thelma Marie Flynn

Thelma Marie Coffey Flynn, 89, passed peacefully from this life July 5, 2023. She was born in Monticello Kentucky to Jesse Romer Coffey and Lola Florence (Barnett) Coffey. She was married to Herschel Flynn on December 19, 1950. After their marriage, they settled in Indianapolis, and lived there for the past seventy years.

She was an early member of the Arlington Heights Baptist Church, the Lifegate Baptist Church, and, for the last fifty years, the Burge Terrace Baptist Church.

She is survived by her brother, David Lawrence Coffey; her sister, Ellen Suzanne Piercy; and six children, Jeffrey Carl, Jerry Wayne, John Steven, Joseph Kaye, James Kevin and daughter Joyce Marie Wallsmith. She is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Emogean Audrey Eads; and by five brothers, Herschel Leroy, Clifford Douglas, Romer Elmo, Richard Olen, and Troy Edsel.

Services will be held Saturday July 15, 2023, at Flanner & Buchanan Washington Park East. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, with the service following at 12:00 pm. Following the service, she will be interred next to her beloved husband Herschel Flynn in the New Palestine Cemetery – 5055 500W, New Palestine, IN 46163.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, to which she was a regular donor, being deeply concerned about the young children in need of love and prayer.
