Thelma Lucille Krampe

August 28, 1925 — February 7, 2020

Carmel, IN

Thelma Lucille Krampe passed away on February 7, 2020. She was 94. Thelma was born
on August 28, 1925 in Brazil, Indiana to George and Barbara Lewis. She had two sisters,
Bernadine and Doris, who were her best friends throughout their lives. Thelma married
John (Jack) Krampe in September of 1948, recently celebrating 71 years of marriage.
Thelma graduated from Brazil High School in 1943. She then earned her nursing degree
from St. Anthony’s Hospital in 1946. After marrying Jack, she moved to Indianapolis, where
he was employed with Indianapolis Power and Light Company, and she worked as a
surgical nurse until starting their family.

Thelma was a member of a homemaker’s club for many years and enjoyed the monthly
fellowship and support it provided stay-at-home wives and mothers. Thelma was also a
long time member and strong supporter of Mount Olive United Methodist Church. She was
very active in the church leadership by serving on numerous committees, teaching
children’s Sunday School, and participating in many groups and women’s circles within the
church. One of her favorite activities was volunteering significant time and effort to the
church’s ‘Thrift Shop’ which provided clothing and other essentials to those in need in the
local community.

Thelma’s highest priority was her family. She was steadfast in her devotion to providing a
home environment where values and the importance of family were the focus and home
was a safe harbor. She was an attentive, loving grandmother to six grandchildren, always
looking for ways to make them know they were each special and dearly loved by her.
Those who knew Thelma knew her to be a woman of faith, integrity, honesty and
trustworthiness. She was truly a good person and dear friend to many. She was
thoughtful in her acquaintances and made it a priority for many years to send notes and
cards and call those in need. She listened carefully to those around her and found ways to
reach out to them.

She will be missed but her life has given us many fond memories for those who knew and
loved her. Thelma’s example of a devoted wife and mother live on through her children
and grandchildren.

Thelma is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Jack; her three children and their
spouses: Michael Krampe (Judy), Susan Krampe Finkbiner (Kent), and Randy Krampe
(FloAnne); Grandchildren: Christie (Finkbiner) Millis, Lauren (Krampe) Kowalk, Brian
Finkbiner, Angela (Krampe) Gascho, Jessica (Krampe) Larijani, and Melissa (Krampe)
Phillips; and nine great-grandchildren. Additional survivors are several nieces and a
nephew, including Karen (Littlejohn) Lasky.
