Terry Lee McClellan, 77, Indianapolis, passed away March 11, 2024. He was born in Troy, OH to William Arthur McClellan and Naomi June (Bailey) McClellan. He grew up in Speedway which is fitting since his life revolved around racing. He was a mechanic for various Indy car racing teams from the 1960’s to 1980’s. In the 90s and early 2000s he was crew chief for Mike Schuyler Racing and Barry Reid Racing. If you needed to find Terry on the weekends, it was guaranteed he was at a track with at least one of his kids. He was so proud to have attended 66 consecutive years' worth of Indy 500 races either working or being a spectator in the stands. He attended every sporting event and extracurricular activity for his children he possibly could. He was so proud of all his kids that he would tell anyone who would listen all about them. He will be missed immeasurably.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter Sieanna “Skye” McClellan.
Survivors include his partner of 35 years Sandra Faude, children Lori (Paul) Solt, Brent (Kim) McClellan, and Jessica (Joe) Tirone. His grandson Nyle McClellan, a step grandson Matt Kincade, and step granddaughter, Starr Kincade. 2 very special friends who were his children by choice, Nannette and Brent Wadkins. He also leaves behind several amazing cousins in OH and friends all over the US.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, St. Jude, or any animal rescue.
